Brainwave Guide

What your
brain actually
feels.

No jargon. No lab coats. Just what happens inside your head when sound changes frequency — and how to use it.

δ
0.5 – 4 Hz
Delta

"You're not even there anymore. The body takes over, repairs itself, and forgets the world exists."

What it feels like
Total absence. The kind of sleep where you wake up and it feels like you blinked — but four hours passed. No dreams, no thoughts. Just dark, warm nothing.
What it actually does
The body releases growth hormone. Cells regenerate. The immune system resets. Pain signals quiet down. This is when the body heals itself.
Use it when
You're physically exhausted. You can't switch off. You need deep recovery after illness, intense exercise, or prolonged stress.
Don't use it when
You need to stay awake or alert. It will put you to sleep. Not a daytime frequency.
θ
4 – 8 Hz
Theta

"That moment just before sleep where ideas suddenly come from nowhere — and feel impossibly real."

What it feels like
Floating. Half-asleep but somehow more awake than usual. Thoughts arrive in images rather than words. Time disappears. The inner critic goes quiet.
What it actually does
Connects conscious intention with the subconscious. This is where emotional processing happens, deep insights surface, and creative breakthroughs live.
Use it when
You're blocked creatively. You need to process something emotional. You want to meditate deeply but struggle to get there naturally.
Don't use it when
You have work to do, decisions to make, or need to be physically present. This is an inward state.
α
8 – 13 Hz
Alpha

"Sunday morning. Coffee. No rush. Fully awake but completely at ease — like the world slowed down to your pace."

What it feels like
Calm alertness. Present without pressure. The feeling after a good walk or a long shower when everything seems clearer and lighter.
What it actually does
Reduces cortisol (stress hormone). Bridges the conscious and subconscious. Creates the mental state that athletes call "the zone" — effortless, clear action.
Use it when
You feel anxious or overwhelmed. You want to ease into creative work. You want to decompress after a stressful day without falling asleep.
Don't use it when
You need high-energy output or fast decisions. It's a gentle state, not a performance state.
β
13 – 30 Hz
Beta

"That sharp, awake feeling when everything clicks — the problem is interesting, the coffee is good, and you know exactly what to do."

What it feels like
Engaged. Purposeful. Linear thinking at its best — analysis, language, sequencing. The normal waking brain. Too much becomes anxiety; just enough is clarity.
What it actually does
Activates logical reasoning, verbal processing, and task focus. Low beta (~14 Hz) creates calm concentration. High beta (>20 Hz) is closer to alertness and urgency.
Use it when
You need to study, write, solve problems, or power through a task. Also useful in the morning when the brain is slow to start.
Don't use it when
You're already stressed or wired. Adding more beta to an anxious brain amplifies tension, not performance.
γ
30 – 100 Hz
Gamma

"Everything connects at once. You see the whole picture and every detail simultaneously. It's almost too much — but it feels electric."

What it feels like
Hyper-awareness. Time slows. Details sharpen. Experienced meditators show high gamma even at rest. Often described as a feeling of everything suddenly making sense.
What it actually does
Binds information across brain regions. 40 Hz specifically is linked to memory consolidation, heightened sensory perception, and bursts of insight. The brain at full integration.
Use it when
You want peak mental performance — before important decisions, creative sprints, or when you want to absorb and retain complex information.
Don't use it when
You're trying to sleep or unwind. Gamma is high-voltage. It needs to be used intentionally and for focused windows, not for hours.

How do you want to feel?

Pick a state. The sound starts. Put on headphones, close your eyes, and let your brain do the rest.

Stereo headphones required — one tone enters each ear. The brain creates the beat. Keep volume low and comfortable. Not for use while driving.

Build your own mix

Activate any combination of channels. Set each frequency and volume independently. Layer states the way a DJ layers tracks — because your brain can handle more than one thing at once.
